The Amherst County Opioid Abatement Education Trailer is Coming to the Amherst County Fair

Through a collaborative effort between Amherst County and the Virginia Cooperative Extension, One Community: One Fight is an interactive mobile educational Trailer. Through this experience both parents/guardians and their youth will have the opportunity to learn about the changes, dangers, and consequences of substance abuse including opioids, marijuana, vapes, alcohol, and more. One Community: One Fight is multidimensional in its ability to educate parents on the new methods in which children are being targeted through marketing, red flags to look for when they suspect their minor is participating in illicit substances, resources for help, and more. The minors will have hands-on experiences on how these substances can negatively impair their senses and reasoning. Trailer will be open for parent viewing sessions (15 minute experience) and youth engagement activities from Friday from 7 pm-8 pm, Saturday from 2-3:30 pm and 6-7:30 pm, Sunday from 2-3:30 pm. Pedal cart experience for licensed (learning permit or full permit) drivers during Saturday sessions.
